Autumn is obviously the best season, and I’m MASSIVELY in love with all the smells associated with it. Hot cider, ripe berries, wet grass, bonfires, crisp apples… mmm, I can’t wait. And we all know that candles are an integral part of the hygge experience, which is why I’m so excited to share with you my thoughts on the brand new Yankee Candle Harvest Time autumn 2016 range!
There are four new scents to enjoy, all of which are inspired by different parts of the season of change. I’m a ridiculously massive fan of Yankee Candles, and I have an ever-expanding stash of the little votives. I usually buy the little baby votives because I like to switch the scents up every couple of days, and it’s nice to be able to try a wide range without committing £20 to a candle you might not like.
So! Onto the candles!
This is the scent you’d get if you crossed an afternoon of autumnal baking with a sweetshop. It’s the only sweet fragrance of the set, so it’s good if you like berry scents. I have no idea how, but the smell of the crumble comes through too! I can already tell that this is a scent that will fill a room within five minutes, so ideal for bigger spaces. I’d probably choose this one for the summer-autumn transition, especially if we get the Indian summer we’re promised every year!
This is my favourite of the new range. It’s a dark stormy blue and quite a masculine fragrance, with earthy, woodsy notes. You can definitely smell the lavender in there too. It smells to me like a walk in the woods after the rain has cleared. I really wish Yankee Candles made perfume, because I would totally wear this! This is perfect for a drizzly evening when all you want to do is curl up in front of a film, and would be ideal for Bonfire Night.
Ebony and Oak
This is another scent firmly on the masculine end of the spectrum. Oddly enough the woody notes are very subtle in this, and it’s the patchouli that shines through. I also get a touch of spicy cinnamon in there – it sounds unusual, and it is a bit, but if there was ever a season for strange things then shouldn’t it be autumn in all its spookiness?
LOVE. THIS. I nearly didn’t buy this one as I wasn’t sure about the honey, but it smells delicious. The clementine makes it pretty festive, so this is a great transition scent for when it gets to the last week of November and the first brave people start thinking about dragging the decorations down from the loft. Also, this is the perfect colour for autumn, and would look amazing surrounded by conkers and fallen leaves as a table centrepiece.

Which of these candles gets you excited about autumn? Or do you have your eye on any others for when the weather turns?

I just discovered hellohygge! I love it. You’ve described the ‘feeling’ I am trying to offer readers in my new blog at http://www.badlychoppedcarrots.
Hi! I just adore your site and was so happy I stumbled upon it. I happen to love Yankee Candles “Harvest” scent. I could really burn it at any time of the year, it is the coziest of smells and is definitely my favorite. What scents are you liking this fall? “Moonbeams on Pumpkins” sounds like it has potential 🙂
Thank you so much! I love Yankee Candles! I’ve been burning Bath & Body Works’ Warm Apple Pie scent which is so buttery and cosy and lovely – always happy to receive new recommendations though. Moonbeams on Pumpkins sounds delicious!
