If there’s anything I love, it’s FOOD. The abundance of grub is by far my favourite thing about this time of year, and if you asked me what comes in second, it’s the drink. Everything in moderation, of course, but I will never say no to another mulled wine, or a Bailey’s hot chocolate, or a cheeseboard, or a selection box, or a clementine, or… you get the picture. So, with this in mind, I’m SO BLOODY EXCITED to put together this food and drink gift guide for a very merry Christmas, hygge style.

Rose gold liquorice bauble

Have you ever seen anything so pretty? Rose gold is one of my absolute favourite colours, and the little balls in this rose gold liquorice bauble from Cloudberry Living look so decadent. Beer52 subscription box

I’ve spoken before about my love of subscription boxes, and I recently came across Beer52. Each month, the team at Beer52 pick out a selection of eight beers (yes, two didn’t even make it to the photo stage, what a terrible blogger I am) and post them off with a little snack and Ferment magazine, which is packed with information about beer. They very kindly sent me a box, and I must say, I’m extremely impressed. I have the Christmas box, and the selection is amazing! BrewDog’s Santa Paws is described as ‘our antidote to the chaos of the upcoming festive season’, and of course I was totally drawn to the minimalistic design of the Danish To Øl (with a rather hoppy name). A shout out also has to go to Beer52 and Mikkeller’s Session IPA, created after a night drinking together in Copenhagen, along with the contribution from Bristol’s Wiper and True, the Mimosa, which comes in a bottle so classy it could easily be wine (and my favourite of the lot). This really is an amazing gift for a beer fan, and it’s so much more exciting than a 12-pack of lukewarm cans from Tesco. I had a little beer and curry night with my friend, and he agreed that this is a great way to find out about new beers, so I would 100% definitely order this again.

Danish treats and sweets

Know any Danes who won’t be heading home for Christmas? Wish you were heading to Denmark for Christmas yourself? Then you need this adorable Hjemve Danish Homesick Bundle from ScandiKitchen. Personalised Nutella

We all know THAT person who can’t get enough Nutella in their lives (mine is my brother). A couple of years ago I got him a personalised jar from Selfridges, but this year you can order a free personalised Nutella label from Nutella themselves! If nothing else, it’s a good way to protect everyone else’s supply by giving the Nutella fiend their very own jar. As we know, hygge is NOT about deprivation, and sometimes there’s nothing more comforting than toast (or a crumpet, or a croissant if you’re feeling continental) slathered in melting chocolate hazelnut spread. I can also highly recommend melting a teaspoon of it into hot chocolate for a delicious nutty twist, or warming it up for a makeshift fondue. Perfect for that hygge night in with a big platter of berries and marshmallows – company optional…

Peanut butter chocolate snowballs

My name is Kayleigh Tanner and I’m a peanut butter addict. I happily eat peanut butter straight from the jar, sometimes forgoing the spoon (I’m disgusting, I know), generally crunchy and the saltier the better. I absolutely adore Montezuma’s for high-quality, affordable chocolate, and these peanut butter chocolate snowballs are EVERYTHING. They’re an absolute steal compared to some of the bigger chocolate chains, and they’re dangerously moreish. Even if we don’t get a white Christmas this year, at least I’ll have snowballs… and I won’t freeze my tongue on these ones either.

Christmas tea

I love a Starbucks red cup as much as the next basic bitch, but Christmas is the time for going all-out, and this Bluebird Tea Co. Snowball Tea fits the bill perfectly. This blend is flavoured with coconut (oh god), chocolate (oh god) and mini marshmallows (oh god), and it’s vegan friendly (yes, even the marshmallows!). It’s available in loose leaf blends or teabags, and there are several other festive flavours available, including Mulled Cider, Christmas Cake, Gingerbread Chai Tea, Hey Sugarplum, Peppermint Cream Milk Oolong and Terry’s Tea (as in the chocolate orange), so you can fully indulge in your mid-morning tea break. This is festive hygge in tea form, and you won’t regret giving it a whirl.

M&S Christmas liqueurs

OK, you’re probably – understandably – thinking ‘Do you really expect me to spend £60 on liqueurs?’, but hear me out. Firstly, you can buy these M&S Christmas liqueurs as individual bottles in store, so you can just pick your favourite. Secondly, if you’re feeling frivolous, you could always buy all six, keep your favourites for a Christmas tipple and give the rest as gifts. Just sayin’. I’m always insanely impressed with M&S’s Christmas drinks, and this year is no exception. I got the Black Forest Gateau liqueur last Christmas, and it’s delicious but bloody hell is it rich! I’ve also had the Elderflower liqueur before, and that lasted literally one day, so that tells you all you need to know about that. I like to get a bit creative with these and come up with some cocktails (some more successful than others), but nobody’s going to judge you if you drink them over ice. Or just put a straw in the bottle. It’s Christmas after all.
