My Blue Monday hygge party

Well thank god that’s over! Blue Monday certainly lived up to its expectations this year, but fortunately help was at hand in the way of my little hygge party inspired by GLORIOUS.

In case you missed out on all the action, take a look at my 10 top tips for throwing a hygge party – we’re only just past the halfway point of January, so there’s plenty of time to invite your friends over to hygge. You can also see how other people brightened up Blue Monday by browsing the #GloriousHygge hashtag on Instagram. I thought I’d also show you a few little snaps of my evening – it certainly took the edge off the most depressing day of the year!

Danish cookies

All good evenings start with a snack, and mine came in the form of these adorable little Danish cookies. These little vaniljekranse (vanilla crowns) are so good dipped in tea (English Breakfast please!) or hot chocolate (cream is non-negotiable), and are ridiculously easy to make – the hardest part is piping them into the little swirls, but even this is a breeze. I have plenty left over, so that’s my morning snacks sorted for the next week or so!

Yankee Candle

It wouldn’t be a hygge party without a candle or two would it? I lit one of my beloved Yankee Candle votives (my current favourite way to buy them is by ordering a bundle of random scents on Amazon so I don’t get stuck in a rut, and it also works out cheaper this way) for a gentle glow, but I also…

Fairy lights around the fireplace

… cracked out the fairy lights! Just because Christmas is over, that doesn’t mean all the lights have to go away, and these ones are subtle enough to stay up all year. Fairy lights are great for creating a subtle glow when you just can’t bear the big light, and are ideal for the perfect hyggeligt atmosphere.

A pile of cosy cushions on an armchair

In my last post with my hygge party tips, I suggested creating a space for your guests to retire to, and that’s exactly what I did. It helps that I own about 4,801 cushions and throws, because I can just pile them up everywhere to let people build their own little nests. This is just one of my little ‘hygge corners’, and the aim is to create a comfortable, warm and safe space – nothing glamorous to see here!

GLORIOUS Soup in a soup dish

Finally, the food! Here’s a little sneak preview of the limited edition GLORIOUS Greens soup, which brings together broccoli, coconut, mango and spinach in one delicious detoxifying bowl. I’m going to be talking more about this wonder soup very soon, along with how you can introduce more hygge into your life this January through both what you eat and what you do, so keep your eyes peeled for that post in the next few days.

Did you hold a hygge party? I’d love to see your photos or to hear about what you got up to!

In the end, my friend didn’t come over… but we got 3 new guinea pigs on Sunday, so the evening was really hyggely because we all sat around and played with them!

    1. Three new guinea pigs, I bet they’re so cute! I can’t wait to see lots of photos in The Hygge Nook 🙂
