How is it already November? I swear we only hit September about 13 seconds ago. Now Halloween (and my birthday) are out of the way, festive fever is in full force, and it’s all systems go at Hello Hygge HQ. For some people (Scrooges, pure Scrooges), 1st November is too early to be thinking about the C-word, but when you’re in constant pursuit of the hygge way of life, the countdown starts now.
It’s for this reason I’m SO EXCITED about today’s post: my first ever Hello Hygge competition! I’m absolutely thrilled to be able to offer one lucky winner TWO his and hers Christmas t-shirts in collaboration with the festive fanatics at Jolly. Jolly offer a really fun range of Nordic-inspired Christmas t-shirts for men, women and children, with everything from skiiers to snowmen to reindeer. I’m sure you can see why Jolly is the perfect match for Hello Hygge… details of how you can enter are at the bottom of this post!
So how did Jolly come about? “Back when we began Jolly Clothing, Christmas jumpers were seemingly nowhere to be found,” said Helen Green, co-owner of Jolly. “My husband (and co-owner, Melvin Green) decided he wanted one after seeing one on a film. We could only find them made by a company in America, so made the decision to make our own. After some thought, Melvin decided he would rather a t-shirt than a jumper, because he wanted to look cosy, but still be cool and comfortable in a warm house!” As someone who wants a home filled with candles, cosy throws and cushions, I totally get why a Christmas t-shirt is a good compromise. All the festive joy with none of the Father Christmas flush. Perfect.
And understandably, the Jolly team practise what they preach. “Christmas is our favourite time of year because that’s when Jolly HQ get busiest. We put Christmas tunes on and our team all get involved in every part of the process, from designing to picking and packing. It really does turn into a bit of a Santa’s workshop with some very busy elves! We are a happy bunch and it make for a very festive build up to the big day.” Unfortunately, as a team of one, I’m not quite ready to turn Hello Hygge HQ into a workshop just yet, but I certainly know a thing or two about being a busy little elf!
All of Jolly’s t-shirts are designed, printed and labelled in Wales, where Jolly is based. “It’s always been important to us to be proud of our products. We take a lot of pride in them being well made with good materials, so them coming from where we work makes it much easier to keep up with quality control… our tops even have a red dragon on the label to show that!” And even better, Jolly’s t-shirts are made from super-soft 100% cotton using eco-friendly water-based ink, making them a kinder choice this Christmas.
And of course, I couldn’t let Helen go without finding out what a cosy, hyggeligt Christmas means to her. “The perfect Christmas has to be about family. Having everybody at your house, Christmas music playing, plenty of food and always keeping the magic alive, no matter how old you are – you have to believe!” Helen is so right – Christmas SHOULD be magical, whether you’re 8 or 80, and Jolly’s versatile range means that everyone can get involved in the festivities for a holly Jolly Christmas.
